Squid is a popular food in many parts of the world. My hubby being from a coastal place is very fond of sea food and squid being one of them. It is my favorite too. i have tried different squid recipes before i even started this blog but this time i was trying out a new recipe. And yesssss it was delicious. Everyone at home loved it and it got over in no time.

Ingredients

Squid – ½ kg – cleaned and cut into rings
Refined flour – ½ cup
Corn flour – 3 tbsp
Salt
Water as needed
Oil
Garlic – 5 – finely chopped
Ajinomoto – a pinch (optional)
Green chillies – 3-4 - cut diagonally
Onion – 1 – cut length wise
Capsicum – 1 – cut length wise
White pepper powder – ½ tsp
Soya sauce – 1 tsp
Vinegar – ½ tsp
Green Chilli sauce – 3 tbsp

Method

In a bowl add refined flour, corn flour, salt and some water and mix it into a thick batter. The consistency should be good enough to make pakoras. Add squid and give it a good mix. Now deep fry the squids in batches and keep it aside.

Take a non stick pan or wok and heat 2 tbsp oil. Keep the flame high throughout as Chinese dishes are always cooked on high flame. Add chopped garlic and ajinomoto. Saute it. Add green chillies. Add onion and capsicum. Saute it well. Onion and capsicum should not become too soft. Add some salt and white pepper powder. Add soya sauce, vinegar and green chilli sauce. Immediately add the fried squid and give it a good mix. Check for seasoning and adjust it. Take off the heat and serve it.

My Notes

ü  You can increase or decrease the amount of chilli sauce depending on your taste.

ü  Chinese food should always be cooked on high flame and hence you should keep all the ingredients ready before starting to cook.
